Off to our first stop... Prague! Here's a little history for you!
Prague. Often described as an “untouched setting to a fairy tale”. With its beautiful medieval architecture, castles and bridges, Prague has gone through more of an emotional transformation over the ages than a physical one. The city and the country of the Czech Republic has gone through many different rulers, tyrants, politics, wars and religions… and through all that its people have been able to stay positive and resilient.

An important event in Prague’s history was "The Velvet Revolution", which began almost immediately after the Berlin Wall started to come down. The revolution was a peaceful protest against the current communist rule. The people wanted their freedom back and to move forward with the western idea of democracy. 1989 was certainly a time for the people’s peaceful revolution. This was a time that tested citizens patience and resilience. Particularly the youth of Prague, who looked towards the ideas of world peace of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The powerful “War is Over… If you want it to be” campaign was so strong that it reached the minds of those who were being affected. This campaign and idea was so powerful it resulted in the John Lennon wall in Prague. Located on the side of the Kings of Malta building near the Charles Bridge, Czech youth wrote messages of peace and freedom, portraits and quotes all inspired by Lennon. This was a reminder of resilience and freedom, and that the power was actually with the people.
