The Prague Castle
The Prague Castle, the largest ancient castle in the world dating back to the year 870 when the first wall began on construction and renovated throughout thirteen centuries. The castle covers over eighteen acres, centered around three courtyards. The most astonishing factor observed in the castle is the visibility of style over centuries. Different art periods are apparent. The St. Louis Cathedral is still being renovated today! Wars and fires have been the most common reason for subsequent renovations. In 1485 King built new defense towers on the north side of the castle during the Hussite Wars. During the fourteenth century King Charles the fourth had motes built around the castle as well to protect from intruders. This helped the building remain in tact after several destruction caused by wars. Another technique the King added to the castle was a row of housing for his royal nights. While protecting the king himself, the castle was secured n case of vast emergency and guidance in situations.
